Bread & sewing

I tried making bread for the first time! It's much easier than I thought -- maybe because I used self raising flour.. And saved the yeast part! :D

I topped my bread with lemon peel, ginger, spring onion, cinnamon and lemongrass. The lemon peel added a little more interest into the bread. My boyfriend said he tasted nothing like it, but he likes it.

200 degrees for 25min is all it takes for the bread to be crunchy on the outside, and soft inside.

And, I made another skirt - my sister took it away again! I really love the floral skirt I made this time. It is made with floral chiffon, and lined with the softest cotton lining inside. I added black 'waist band' with a elastic band sown in.

Since the skirt has a little of every color, it could pair with anything. since there is very little yellow going around the dress, I like a golden yellow to balance the richness.

SEWING

I've been in this sewing mode recently. It's really weird considering that I never learnt sewing or thought of myself sewing.

I made a pair of skirt for my sister yesterday!

Floral print skirt with elastic band. Now this is the first ever pair of skirt I made, and I did learn quite a bit of techniques during the making process.

If you are starting with a slightly sheer material, please do add an inner layer. Since it is meant for my 15 year old sister, I had to make sure it isn't too see though. Well, in fact, a good skirt should not be see through at all!

Inside of the bottom of skirt. I have no idea which setting to use for the finishing of skirt. So I double folded the endings and top stitch a 2mm seam all around.

To give it a neater look, I sew the inner layer inside the elastic band area.

And I forgot to take a picture of the sides of skirt. I did a french seam for the sides. Total time I spent for this skirt is around 2 hours I think. It is not bad for a start come on.

Love it to death! I wore it for a day before I gave it to my sis. :X

Does that piece of fabric look familiar to you? Well, don't be surprised if it does. I bought 2 pieces of fabric from Diaso at just S$4! Inner layer cost around S$3 for me I guess. So the cost price of skirt came out to just around S$7. I love Diaso fabrics! Remember the pencil cases I made earlier? The fabrics were from diaso too. Just remember to double fold it and add a harder piece of cotton for pencil cases. Otherwise they'd be really soft and break.

And..... I made a pair of shorts for my boyfriend too!
Well, yes, 2 pcs of fabric from diaso too. This is made of a soft cotton material, so it'd be suitable for lounging at home, or go kopitiam for brunch.

I wanted the shorts to look a little less well, boring in the color. So I added a white cloth for the waistband area. Again, elastic band shorts because I am really not confident of sewing a fly for the first time.

Legs of the pants. I did a inside out fold kind of thing for the pants. I just think it looks a lot more casual.

French seam for the sides. I did this for my sister's skirt too.

Making a good pair of pants is definitely a huge challenge! This is the second time I attempt making a pair of shorts, and I am so glad I succeeded! It is important to cut out the crotch area properly. Without the crotch area, the pants would not be comfortable. Not only that, it'd split into two when you walk. If too much of the crotch is cut out, you will end up looking like you have a huge cock. or a really really flat ass.

I spent around 3.5 hours on this pair of pants. Well, actually I sew the skirt and pants on the same night. And I ended up sleeping at 7am.

XOXO

ramen. doughnut. tim ho wan. diy. POET in action

Ramen Champion is my bf's favorite! he craves for that all the time damn.

can't remember which store this is from. It's really good, taste porky. The thing i hate about these noodles is that they are SO SALTY!!!!! Bring your own mineral water please. I almost never buy water from ramen champ since they're so expensive. Just isn't worth it.

This is from the first store you see when you enter ramen champ. It taste kinda 'sea foody' Not the most salty as compared to the other ramens I had at ramen champ, but still more salty than average food.

blackball. lol. I always order the iced one. But recently I realised the hot one taste really good too. yummmmmm

I expected these doughnut to taste better than this, but they're really really really soft. yums. My favorite is the coffee(not in the picture because I ate it!) and the green tea(the green one) one.

TIM HO WAN. This place is crazy!!! Each time I pass by, there'd be really really long queue! Was there shopping with my sister and I realise there're only 4 or 5 groups of people in front. Called my bf, and decided to eat there.

Their signature buns are a MUST. Great portions with great price.

Glutinous rice dumping. I order this sort of dish in every dim sum rest because I just love them. :X But I have to say I kinda enjoy the one in guangzhou more. ~.~ Due to the salted egg yolk. :D

MY FAVVVVVV snack. I used to make myself these at home. They're really easy to make. but I got lazy. Jelly that melts in your mouth. Secret ingredient? Gelatin. Not a vegetarian thing though.

We also had some other dishes at tim ho wan. Why no pic?! as usual, I ate them. damn.

Tim ho wan is my boyfriends other favorite now. And he's really upset that I only ordered 2 out of the 4 top dishes at tim ho wan. I had to pamper him and say things like.... 'right dear dear, i'll just go with you another time without my sis n order all the good food.'

I made my sister a pencil case. :D yay. Her previous pencil case is made by me too. She used it for around 2 years and its really dirty and stuff. So I decided to make a new one for her. Just really glad she likes what I make.

Inside the case. I added a divider.

And a pencil pase for my brother!! :D So cute. I wanted to make something for my boyfriend using this cloth. It's just really adorable.

Zips from the top.

One last bit for those who reads chinese.....

我是英雄,杀狗 杀猪 杀鬼
      吃蛋糕,
流血
       看我为国家做出的牺牲!

Fine Chinese poem written by none other but my boyfriend.
What's the title of that poem?

August Bellabox!

UPDATED:
I wrote this ytd bt all the text disappeared. D: so whatever text now are written by me on 10th AUG instead.

hnd! (happy national day)

My new hair! I never been to salon for around 2 years already. Mainly because I hate to sit still for ppl to cut my hair. I trim my own fringe and layered a little all around. Sometimes I cut hair for my brides too!

Bellabox sent me their August box this month, with a special Peranakan design (Which my boyfriend is a peranakan so its good)
Came packed in a pretty design!

Bellabox is putting in quite a bit of effort for our national day. Even the greetings came in different languages.

Orchid sticker. lols

GOODIES!

This is a lip patch. I'm not sure if I'd enjoy this though. It's 'mask' that you paste on your lips. I'm lazy with even facial mask. :X
RETAIL: Box of 5 for S$19.90
IN THIS BOX: 1pcs (Valued at S$4)

Facial wipes by wotnot. I've not heard of this brand before. But I tried this before, but pretty interested by the word natural and organic. I've tried it on my face, and it does not leave a 'clean' enough feeling. Its slightly greasy, (I feel that most wipes are like that anyway) but it removes my makeup pretty well. I deifinitely feel the need to wash it off though.
RETAIL: 25ml/$9.25
IN THIS BOX: 5pcs (Think it should be around S$2 value)

This is a bonus item. I've never used CC cream. So I guess its good that I get this small sample to try out.
RETAIL: 30ml/$38.90 OR 50g/$39.90
IN THIS BOX: Its just sample sizes of 2ml each. So approximately S$4.20 value.

This is whats inside for the previous pdt.

Enavose micellar cleansing water. Guess this is similar to the Bioderma cleansing water that we all know about. I've not tried this though. Hopefully its as good as bioderma!!
RETAIL: 120ml/S$45 (Honestly, as this price point I rather get bioderma. So hopefully its not as good now. ARGH)
IN THIS BOX: 30ml (Approx S$11.25 value)

Harnn Hand cream. Again. Never tried this brand before. However, it came in a really pretty packaging. Sucked me in totally. Products are being packed in a aluminium tube, similar to that of tooth paste. LOVE. The scent I got is Jasmine though I would prefer to get the Rose scented one.... Nice consistency that gets absorbed easily. Feels slightly creamier than tooth paste if this helps.
RETAIL: 50g/S$45
IN THIS BOX: 25g (S$22.50 value. Very generous size!)

ModelCo cheek & lips stain
I quite like the concept of this. I hate reapplying lipsticks/blush. This has a thicker consistency than the Benefit tint, and it 'stains' much faster than Benefit. I only left it on my finger for like 2 seconds and it left my finger pink for a few hours!!!
RETAIL: 10ml/S$28
IN THIS BOX: 5ml (approx S$14 in value)

Teaism tea packs. I havent tried this yet, but this is an up and coming company in SG!
RETAIL: S$1.50/pack
IN THIS BOX: 2 pack (S$3 value)

Total value that you'd get in this box is: S$60.95 (3 times of the S$19.95 you pay for the box!)
My favorite item of the box is definitely the lip&cheek stain, and the hand cream. If you do love some of the things in this box, definitely go ahead and order the box of August. I think they send second shipment around Mid month. :) Otherwise, wait for another month!

I baked chocolate cake via microwave yesterday night. Its really tasty. I thought I'd fail since microwave usually don't work well with cakes. Much better than I thought it'd be!!! The white part is actually marshmallow. YUMMS.

Myh sister's nails. That I paint for her. Think its kind of weird though. lol she wanted every nail to look different!

Her other hand. What do you think?

XOXO
